Challenges
MRP Mobility is a US-based technology business focused on simplifying the logistical and operational complexity of mobile and IoT devices in the enterprise. The company supports many of the world’s leading brands including seven of the Forbes top ten telecommunications operators. Using technology to accelerate and streamline services, MRP offers mobile device provisioning and staging for enterprise customers. This means that each device is configured to the client’s requirements and specifications before being distributed to employees.
Over the past few years, MRP has experienced significant growth in demand from organisations requiring global communications services, starting with programme launch to ongoing management that ensures unparalleled uptime for business users. To meet growing demand, MRP has expanded its global footprint through ten primary global staging centres located across every inhabited continent. These centres provide a range of offerings including procurement, warehousing, device staging and kitting, device repair, and advanced exchange services.
While MRP has seen a massive increase, this growth has also put a lot of pressure on the company’s operations and capability to address growing customer demand. To meet the need to process more mobile and IoT devices without compromising quality of service, investing in a new and advanced high-speed solution was essential.
Solution
One option facing MRP was to fill its staging centres with multiple USB hubs and people to manage them. But the company wanted a faster and more efficient solution and had been looking for one without much success, until someone recommended Cambrionix, a UK business at the forefront of USB technology innovation.
Kaylyn Cumbo, Chief Technology Officer at MRP Mobility, says, “We deploy tens of thousands of devices every quarter all over the world. But with increasing demand, we were facing a data speed issue. Standard USB technology is like a one-lane highway and four cars, but with Cambrionix you get a 16-lane highway and one car per lane, so you go much, much faster. And it’s not just capacity; it’s partnering with a team that understands the challenges and advises on the best approach.”
MRP is using the Cambrionix ThunderSync16 which is a high-speed data transfer and charging product designed to allow 16 USB2.0 devices to connect to a Thunderbolt host computer without the bottleneck experienced when using traditional USB hubs. The ThunderSync hubs sit alongside complementary equipment and proprietary MRP software to enable MRP to offer its customers best of breed solutions. Initially, the Cambrionix technology was used with Apple products but is now being extend- ed to other mobile device platforms such as Android.
The ThunderSync technology enables staging centres to expedite many tasks including iOS updates, mobile device management enrolment, Apple DEP enrolment, and unique customer profiles that may include programmes and enterprise apps. MRP has already begun to deploy ThunderSync technology as part of its MRP Blueprint solution suite at staging centres around the world, with all future centres slated to receive ThunderSync technology.
“Cambrionix is a strategic partner for MRP. The combination of innovative hardware like the Cambrionix ThunderSync and MRP’s advanced proprietary software is enabling us to disrupt the launch, management, and maintenance of connected devices - from mobile devices to IoT products. We have formed a fantastic relationship with the team at Cambrionix and foresee a long-term partnership that will benefit both companies and our customers.”
Benefits
Using Cambrionix charge and sync technology has enabled MRP to improve the speed, cost, and efficiency of the services it provides to customers. MRP estimates that it has been able to increase operational capacity by as much as 500 percent through proprietary software, Cambrionix hardware, and a suite of purpose-built tools.
It is also helping MRP enter new markets and increase operational capacity to meet growing demand for its service. The company has opened five new global staging centres this year in Sydney, Australia; Tokyo, Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; New Delhi, India; Amsterdam, Netherlands, with new staging centres earmarked for São Paulo, Brazil and Mexico City, Mexico. These staging centres join MRP’s primary staging centre in Winston-Salem, NC in the US.
Colt Parsons, CEO, MRP Mobility, says, “With Cambrionix technology we can open new locations with significantly less space and much quicker than before. We are also working in collaboration with the Cambrionix team on future iterations of products and plan to launch our first portable staging centre for premium on-site visits where clients cannot afford device downtime. Our system lowers the cost and barriers to entering and operating in new markets.”
Through the development of several recent programmes and integrating Cambrionix ThunderSync products into MRP’s global staging business has allowed the two companies to collaborate on current and future development. One example is development of MRP’s new software suite, MRP Blueprint, which is an advanced set of tools for mobile device management and IoT deployment. The suite controls all aspects of preparing, syncing, updating and deploying devices. From MRP’s control centre in the US along with Cambrionix USB hubs, it is possible to view in real-time, any device, at any staging centre around the world. The range of data from device properties includes type, history, warranty coverage, deployment data, assigned users, and any other associated information needed.
MRP is now looking at how Cambrionix hardware can continue to integrate into the company’s infrastructure and future solution offerings. The company is launching a new global device repair, refurbishment, and refresh business that will take advantage of Cambrionix technology.
“Cambrionix is a strategic partner for MRP. The combination of innovative hardware like the Cambrionix ThunderSync and MRP’s advanced proprietary software is enabling us to disrupt the launch, management, and maintenance of connected devices - from mobile devices to IoT products. We have formed a fantastic relationship with the team at Cambrionix and foresee a long-term partnership that will benefit both companies and our customers,” says Parsons.
