Quantum Mobile Systems
Cambrionix products give QMS the ability to control their USB hub and monitor the status of each individual device.

Challenges
- Hardware constraints such as the speed and bandwidth limitations of large multi-port hubs.
Solution
- Cambrionix ThunderSync 3-16 model for in-house testing.
- Rapid charging and automatic port detection.
- Using Cambrionix ThunderSync3-16, for high speed charging and syncing.
Benefits
- Great bandwidth speed, leading to greater productivity
- Allows resellers to unbox devices with low or no charge into the racks
- Allows daisy chain of half a dozen devices into one workstation.
- Can process nearly 100 devices similtanously.
Challenges
Quantum Mobile Systems develops comprehensive solutions for the mobile resale industry. The company was born from a decade of experience in consumer electronics reselling and frustration with the lack of scalable, high-volume, high-throughput systems for device testing and processing. Their quest for a better solution led them to develop the Quantum suite, the most efficient end-to-end solution available for high-volume mobile device diagnostics, specification collection, secure erasure, device certification, and purchase order tracking.
As Quantum began developing its mobile device reseller suite the company found it was able to eliminate many software bottlenecks and manual processes common in other solutions. This allowed them to significantly streamline software-based workflows, but they still struggled with an issue that has long hindered high volume resellers: Hardware constraints. Namely, the speed and bandwidth limitations of large, multi-port hubs.
Then they discovered Cambrionix. “We needed to be able to test, securely erase and restore hundreds of devices at a time,” said Quantum Co-Founder David Cherne. “Before Cambrionix, it could take hours for us to restore a couple hundred phones at once. Now it takes minutes.” Cherne said the company’s larger clients need to tether several Cambrionix hubs in a rack-mounted configuration that wasn’t possible with other hub systems they considered. This, combined with full-speed charging capabilities, made Cambionix the clear winner for the kind of volume Quantum’s software is designed to handle.
Carlson cited the Cambrionix API as another gamechanger. “The ability to directly control the USB hub and monitor the status of each device gives our software a huge advantage,” said Carlson. “Automatic port mapping allows Quantum to instantly identify and monitor every device, which means our customers can simply plug-and-play hundreds of units at once and let our software do the rest.”
Solution
Quantum uses the Cambrionix ThunderSync3-16 model for in-house testing and recommends it to all of their customers. Larger organizations can daisy chain a half dozen units to one workstation and process nearly 100 devices simultaneously. Rapid charging and automatic port detection enable resellers to unbox and connect a batch of devices with low or no charge into a rack and let the Quantum software automate the process from there.
“Cambrionix helped us unclog the last remaining bottleneck in the reselling process,” said Carlson. “It’s not just the remarkable bandwidth Cambrionix enables, it’s the combination of superior qualities. The speed, power, and intelligence of their devices is like nothing we’d experienced before.” Cherne agrees, and says that the quality and reliability of Cambrionix hubs is also impressive. “We hammer on these devices day in and day out and they continue to perform,” said Cherne. “That’s why we can recommend them to our customers unconditionally.”

Benefits
Quantum offers their reseller suite in two flavors: Software-only (via a SaaS delivery model) or a complete software and hardware bundle, which includes a workstation (with Quantum software pre-installed), a smart label printer, barcode scanner, and Cambrionix hub.
“The first step was to develop superior software to streamline the reselling process,” said Cherne. “Now we want to streamline the entire delivery and implementation process by creating a true out-of-the-box solution as easy for the customer to set up as a new iPhone.”
That will include the ability to drop ship pre-configured Cambrionix hubs to the customer that automatically sync to their Quantum software without manual setup. Ultimately, both Cherne and Carlson say they’re in the mobile device reseller industry for more than financial reasons. While they’re huge fans of tech and the benefits it provides, they recognize the enormous environmental downside that comes with every new electronic device produced.
“We know from our years of experience reselling consumer electronics ourselves that it’s all about velocity and throughput,” said Cherne. “By helping our customers process devices more efficiently we can save more of them from the landfill, and that’s better for everyone. The reseller, the consumer, and the planet.”
