Small IT teams running a district-wide iPad programme bear the brunt of a huge workload relative to their size. Devices need to be wiped and updated constantly, ahead of student testing windows, between students, whenever storage runs low, and every one of those devices has to be charged before it can be processed.
Generic USB hubs are not built for this. Many provide little or no power to connected devices, so a device has to sit on a separate charger before it can even be plugged in for a wipe, and connections themselves can be unreliable too, with ports occasionally dropping mid-batch or simply not working. With only two people covering the whole district's technology, every minute spent waiting on hardware, or troubleshooting it, is a minute not spent on everything else the job requires.
This US school district manages roughly 1,500 iPads (8th through 11th generation) with a two-person technology team. Before Cambrionix, the team used a generic USB docking station that provided no meaningful charging power, so devices had to charge separately for 30 minutes or more before they could even be connected for a wipe.
The district first purchased a Cambrionix ThunderSync3-C10 in 2025, then added a ThunderSync5-C16-PD in 2026 as the two hubs became a core part of its device turnover process. Devices can now be charged and wiped in the same step, and the team no longer has to wait for one batch to finish before starting the next.
